California surf

Hi everyone
I’m considering buying a California surf 2023
Could anyone tell me the difference between ocean and surf models as there doesn’t seem to be any difference

If memory serves the Surf was a "special" edition that used up old parts they had lying around from the previous cupboards and tech elements removed from the cockpit to give a slightly cheaper Ocean.

The Surf was the entry-level trim of the “proper” California camper for the last few months of the T6.1 model’s life.

Prior to that, it was called the Coast - but even though both the Coast and Surf were the entry-level trim at different times of T6.1 lifecycle, they came with a different set of standard equipment for reasons that only Volkswagen knows.

The Ocean is the top-of-range trim and is the same as the Coast/Surf but with a bunch of optional equipment included as standard.

On the two I've ever seen, they both had awnings...

Although, I stand corrected looking at that brochure which says it couldn't be ordered with an awning!

I also looked at this and concluded that they lacked fog lights / LED headlights / digi dash and have a more basic floor material, from memory

The floor was an upgrade on the Ocean also
