Below is a list of what has gone wrong with my 2017 T6 ocean
Can you let me know if I can expect any more issues or should I just upgrade to a T6.1?
1. Wardrobe doors falling apart (twice)
2. Electric sliding door hitting rear wheel arch
3. Electric sliding door external handle not always working
4. Uneven tyre wear
5. Tap falling off
6. Waste water tank gauge stop working
7. Know falling off control panel above rear view mirror
8. EGR pipe failing
9. Engine battery failing
10. Touch screen failing
11. ABS sensor failing
12. Window in sliding door leaking

#9 seems to be relatively common at the moment. Mine is driving me bonkers and VW refuse to replace under warranty.
Some of your issues are unusual, sounds like a Friday afternoon van. Given the cost of these things that is quite shocking.

When I upgrade it will be for a camper that Volkswagen don’t have a hand in.

Just to add
13 vw badge has fallen off the key for
14 sliding door has stopped working from inside
15 alarm has stopped being disabled by button on B pillar so have had to disable with carista

I had three goes at getting VW to fix the electric door bounce on my previous California (and fix the paintwork each time). After 3 failures I added some helicopter tape to the wheel arch and a wide, vertical strip of Velcro on the inside, at the rear of the pop out table. No more door bounce scratches!

Had #8 on same model year and that’s it. You are unlucky.

Has the quality degraded that much from the T5.1 to the T6?
So far I had one failing EGR, one temperature sensor in the DPF, sliding door lock (both locks), right drive shaft, knob of the control panel, hydraulic rams, one wardrobe tambour door split, engine battery died at 14 years, and that is about it I think?
But then this is over 15 years and 207000km of driving the van.
So brace yourself for a few more things to come, if you can keep the van that long.

So, it’s an 8 years old California with, I hope you don't blame me, mainly small impurities inside and most likely normal wear and tear?
Owkay, you’ll be fine. Just have it fixed. It’s not that bad for it’s age I guess.

engine battery on 2017 failing, normal. i replaced mine last yr. 2016.
control knob and touch screen are both DIY fixes if your good with a screwdriver. done both on mine.
tyre wear may just need tracking. quite common. check not over inflated.
wardrobe doors, easily fixable with that stringy proper glass tape stuff. again done mine and it's stayed together fine.also had the roller shutter come apart.
the tap needs banging fully home over the white thread, should stay put then.
waste tank guage is rubbish, shows just empty or full so yours maybe working normally. fill it up and check.
abs sensor is an easy diy fix too. if you know which one it is.
EGR pipe is a known transporter issue
can't help with the electric sliding door as not got that luxury on mine.

Bravo. Some love to complain, others enjoy the challenge and happiness of solving. Though I am at the same time sympathetic as I can get very down when my vehicles let me down.
