In a recent post I was getting confused with dead locks (when you press the lock on the remote on other manufacturers cars) and the Safelock system in our Calis. The Safelock must be VWs deadlock system. The hand book says 1 press of the lock button on the remote sets Safelock. This I imagine is similar to deadlocks on another manufacturer car. It means you can’t open the doors from the inside once the lock button is pressed once. Twopresses of the lock button doesn’t enable Safelock and you can then open the doors from the inside when the Cali is locked. I’ve had a play with this today and when I’m inside I lock the Cali using one press of the lock button on the remote. When you try and open a door one time it won’t open but pull the lever on the doors twice and the doors open. Surely this can’t be right as when Safelock is set the whole point is that you can’t simply break a window then reach in and open the doors. I’m having some electrical gremlins at the moment and I’m pretty certain before I had these you press the lock button twice on the remote and there was a clicking sort of noise. This would have been turning off the Safelock part of the central locking system. Maybe it never made a noise. I think I’m getting paranoid with all the warning lights on the dashboard at the moment

When you lock the van what does the Red LED do (drivers door) look closely immediately on locking with the Fob.

Should be a series of about 6 short quick blinks , then the alarm should be armed and the red LED goes into a series of blinks every 10 seconds (approximately)

If on initial locking the red led flashing is not as above there may be an issue with the door lock(s) - I have had two sliding door lock failures.both times the initial flashing (self check ) was different from the normal fast flash

The Red led is designed to go into a normal blinking pattern after the initial check even if an issue exists (purely so the alarm cannot be detected as defective by a would be thief )

Edit Pay attention to the blinking pattern on locking, the self check will flash differently if a problem is detected before reverting to the normal blinking flash

Hi Perfectos, I’ve looked at the door lock when it’s locked from the fob. It does flash around 6 times very fast then flashes once every 3 seconds after that. When I press the lock button again on the fob to disable Safelock there is no noise from the locks but the indicators flash.

So the self check is working correctly so the alarm will arm correctly.

What is not working correctly is the fact you can open the doors from inside once locked.

With the van locked a Second press of the lock button flashes the indicators. (Same as you report)

If When Sitting in the drivers seat I press and hold the lock button, mirrors fold and the van locks normally, with dead lock active, if I then try to pull the internal door opening handle the door pin raises slightly but the door will not open no matter how many times I pull the internal handle. I have to unlock the van from the Fob to be able to open the doors to exist thd van

I hope that helps

Does the MFD show the corresponding door open ?

Are mirrors folding on single long press of the lock (fob)

Are electric windows working correctly?

Do the electric Windows self close with a long press of thd lock button (fob) ?

Does the van lock all doors with the Key (drivers door) ?

Window reset procedure:

Ill try sitting in the van and making the mirrors fold. I sat in the van last night and pressed the remote lock button once and the doors opened when the handle were pulled twice but I didn’t hold the lock button until the mirrors folded. Yes the mirrors fold, windows work ok and the door open on the MFD works. I’ll report back tomorrow. Thanks for your help so far.

Have you changed any setting for example Carista etc?

You should be able to hear that the deadlocks have been set. The locking sound is longer. Also do you have a T6.1? If not, check the colour of the light on the drivers B pillar. If orange/yellow that will prevent the deadlocks from being applied.

So I’ve just checked the Safelock feature when the mirrors are folded in. Still nothing. I can still open the doors from the inside with 2 pulls of the door handles. I even left the sliding window open a few minutes then put my hand in to open the sliding door to see if leaving it a few minutes to set made a difference. It didn’t but the alarm certainly works……. I can only imagine this is linked to all the warning lights that are on the dash as the moment so I’m not going to stress out about it until I get the warning lights fixed hopefully under warranty. I will check the Safelock feature when it’s got no warning lights and report back. Thanks for all replies.
