Hi all, when you start getting the new T7 Cali I'm going to need to see one to work out the new cable routing etc. To that end, the 1st person to bring one to me for a solar install will get the installation free, and the kit discounted. All I ask of you in return is you go into town on the bus for the day so I can take my time having a good careful poke around! I may be a lot quicker but I just dont' know how much will have changed bearing on mind it's a new chassis etc.

It would also be preferable if you were not coming a long way as you nmever know, I might run into a technical wall and not be able to do it (rather unlikely!)

Hi Roger, might take you up on this.
2 minds are better than one!
Also, the batterie/s might be LiPo
Will be interesting to see what the MPPT charging profile will be configured as.

I’ve bought a MV to tide me over.
So far so good.
Drives like a car and is surprisingly quick.

I can only imagine the California in this and it’s going to be really good.
Fingers crossed.

You had anybody take you up on the offer yet Roger ?
I will have a t7 Cali Ocean arriving (hopefully) early July.
Would be better to have, two heads are better than one, when installing.

Nope! - still waiting, I've got about 6 or 7 T7 enquiries awaiting my kit development.

Give me a shout when you are ready Bill.

I’ll email you to discuss :thumb

I've seen my copy cat company in Germany has made a T7 kit, so I now know it'll work for sure. Just need to get a van in my hands. Looks like the changes are not significant.

Update - we now have our 1st T7 kit installed and am ready to make more. I need to make some professional instructions (I can give you enough to go on now, for DIY) - so the offer still stands, well, its improved.

Be the 1st person to come to me for the install , J26, M5, and the installation charge will be waived (normally £80) AND I'll give you a £100 discount on your kit.

That sounds like an awesome offer Roger.
Hoping to get mine mid July now.
I’ll email you with some details !

Hi everyone, my new T7 Ocean arrived a month ago, and I purchased a 250W panel that I want to install. The panel is this one: https://www.+amazon+amazon+amazon+amazon+amazon+amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CWRQG3DB?tag=unique09f-21

My question is, what is the maximum weight I can apply to the hydraulic roof? The panel weighs 13.9 kg.

I'm from Romania and I'm using Google Translate.

That panel has terrible reviews.
Weight in roof is around 100kg I think.
Read the manual.

This panel is much better.

6.1 is 50kg. One imagines the 7 is the same but your manual will say exactly.

Update - the offer has been taken up and I'm installing a kit with the dual charger - a question for T7 owners. Am I correct in saying the starter battery is under the front left seat, in the floor? I'll find it, but nice to have a headstart!

It is under the passenger footwell in the Hybrid and there are connections for charging it in the engine bay same side.

T7 Diesel - its also under the front passenger seat (RHD)

Well it all went swimmingly. A nice easy van to work on too. No more difficult than the T5/6. A neater cable entry point, though more visible cable.

Neither of us could find a hint of a starter battery so abandoned that for now. Took the seat off its base, could not see a hint of anything underneath. Decided not to unplug the seat in case it created dash warnings, which meant no lifing of teh seat base-base - but initial inspection showed nothing underneath. Was foxed!

I can't for the life of me find anything on the internet that shows the actual starter battery access procedure.

Thanks Roger, I’m thrilled with the installation.
Fridge now appears to have no impact on leisure batteries.
Super neat installation using a grommet available on the T7, to get wiring into the van. I’ll post some pictures.

On the LHD version.

Not that we could find, I didn’t fancy having to reset seat airbag warnings in the dash if we unplugged the two seat wiring plugs there.
There is a cut in the carpet but pushing a screwdriver through just found the chassis.
I will be very interested to see the first person that has to change their starter battery, it’s certainly not obvious, or a side of the road job by the looks of things.

It does say in the Handbook, for the Hybrid Multivan, it's a garage job.

Thanks Welsh, though as usualy with AI results, that's a photo of a battery in an engine bay :) I am finding google AI results to almost always be wrong, get the wrong model, or be just off the mark - particularly when there is scant information on the internet. Its a shame, as it can be very useful at times on more well covered subjects.

You are most welcome. We certainly had a laugh :)

Looks to be under the carpet, under the passenger seat, so not visible until the seat is out:

Below for the hybrid, but would assume location same for all models:

Thank you, spotted that one but you’ll notice that the carpet and seat are all in place.
I suspect as @WelshGas has said changing your starter battery is now a trip to the van centre!!

This is bonkers.
They has to be a split charger somewhere so it trickle charges when in EHU.
Need someone who works in a VWCV centre to take some pictures…
