A note to the business advertisers and sponsors of this site

Dear,

Please note that even do the email address I provided may suggest different, I have no intention to actually selling printed designs, not even at minimal cost.

I fully understand you want to earn a living too and the setup for a full production line is costly that you need to earn back and make a profit too to make it sustainable.

So I apologise for having been friendly to one member by printing and sending him a few items at minimal cost.

I hope you understand and even support you when you offer professionally manufactured items that I shared here.

With kind regards
Sander

Ps. that email address is just an alias forwarded to my actual email address that I can turn off when it gets spammed

Top door sliders of kitchen cabinet doors (VW part 7H7098390B)

My T5.2 is a conversion of a Transporter to a Cali lookalike.

The sliders / hinges of the kitchen cabinet doors were VW part 7H7098390A, the steel ones. Unfortunately they were very poorly mounted (just like other parts of the conversion) and two broke.

Nowadays they are replaced by VW part 7H7098390B, which are plastic ones. A repair set was 64,95€ for two of them in the Netherlands. I bought them and one broke during install because of a poorly mounted top rail. I won’t repeat what I said at that moment but both the Lord and a slight reference to the 7th commandment were mentioned.

The cheapest pair I found in Germany sets you back at 43,90€.

Well, as much as I grant someone to earn a living, I think this is too much for two small pieces of plastic.

So, I will design my own and prototype the outcome with different materials for strength.

Once done, I will share that 3D printable design here, but I won’t be selling it to anyone.

It’s these things I’m talking about:

Printing completed using the carbon fiber filament. I printed numerous sizes of the strainer to see what works best. Will test this weekend once I'm back in the van. My van is a Westfalia Club Joker T6.1 so not (perhaps) the same size as the Cali.

Nice! Good that you printed different sizes. The original I found was too small so that’s why (based on comments from others) resized it, but indeed it turns out there are various sizes used in different models of the T5/T6/T6.1 and variations thereof like yours.

What I'd love to find is a 3D printable exhaust vent ducting attachment for my Ecoflow Wave 2 AC. Yes, I can make one from other materials, but this would be something cool to print. In my case though it would be different from a Cali as I have Dometic S4 windows which angle outwards and I'd love to use one of those as an exhaust. Right now I simply run the tube through one of them and then built a velcro cover which attaches to the headliner to kind of block the outside but isn't perfect.

Could you post some photos of both the Dometic S4 window and the outlet of the EcoFlow Wave 2 (the latter with some measurements)?

I am not a CAD expert at all but maybe I can work something out if it’s not done already by someone else (although finding that is sometimes a challenge on its own).

That would be amazing! There are some concepts available on Etsy (both for purchase or via STL digital downloads) but these are mainly for the front windows like these:

My thought is an adaptor that would go from the wider tube to a more narrow/flat piece that then attaches to the window via the locks and is wedged against the frame. Not an easy window to work with, but in fact I had seen a YouTube video of a guy who had done just that but failed to save the link and never found it again. My velcro cover works ok, but the top left has a gap which allows airflow back in. I do have a spare hose which I can send via post...

The reason I use this window is I can sit the Ecoflow on the kitchen countertop and external drainage flows right into the sink. The Ecoflow Wave 2 is just a tad too wide to fit between the seats in a T6.1 so using the front windows is not easy. This is also a problem with the drainage as you'd then need a bucket or something to collect the drainage (in humid environments where the automatic evaporation feature doesn't work properly).

Do I understand correctly that something like this Etsy one would come close to what you are looking for?

Not exactly. I'm looking for something that would cover the entire window opening with the hose attached inside the van. To only allow the exhaust air out and not have any gaps to the outside otherwise. Again, not an easy solution but these have been made for other windows.

Got it but to cover the entire window opening you would need parts that can be connected because there is no consumer printer wide enough to print it in one piece.

I have access to a fablab which has industrial printers. ;-) Can also go CNC or other if needed.

Webbah_in_Switzerland can you email me at [email protected] so that we can further discuss what you want (to keep the thread without too much clutter)? I would like the dimensions of the window width as well as the diameter of the outgoing hose.
Will do, thanks! Didn't mean to pollute the thread, but there might be others with Ecoflow Wave 2 and 3's so might be useful (although for other ideas like the slide windows). I'm not near my van until the weekend... Cheers!
