Excited, soon to be, Cali owner

Hi everyone. I’m picking up my ‘new to me’ Cali on Wednesday morning! I’m super excited and very very new to all things Cali! I thought a VW camper was a VW camper… so that’s my starting point! I'm sure I’ll have loads of questions but first I need to sort out the insurance. I’ve looked already and LV are on about a Thatcham something or other alarm. If it gets knicked and I can’t prove there was one fitted, my claim would be rejected! Mine is a 2013, is there such an alarm fitted as standard? Thanks in advance for any help. Jo

The standard alarm should meet Thatcham requirements.

Have a quick search on the topic of insurance - we choose to stick with the specialist motothome/camper insurance companies.

Go somewhere else, try a specialist for motor caravans like Caravanguard.

Next they will want a tracker, then they will refuse the insurance because it has a cooker....be very careful

Thanks for that. I was thinking the same, if they start quibbling about what kind of alarm, what else will they quibble about if I do need to make a claim!

There are a number of specialist companies that insure, or arrange insurance policies. Here’s some of the top of my head: CAMC Red Pennant, Safeguard, A1 Insurance, Comfort, Caravanguard. Quite a few have policies backed by Aviva ( Motorhome policy).
