Hello

Has anyone sourced or sussed out an alternative to the sliding door blind on the beach. It's a pain in the bum having to raise it to open the door and get in and out and so I thought perhaps someone has found an alternative.

Many thanks

Karl

We have a Brandrup isolite screen that fits that window. It’s great as it stays on the door when it opens. Held to the window surround with a Velcro tabs.

Ooh interested in this. Was it a particular model/size please?

Cheaper versions available on eBay

Exact same ones on Ali express, half the price , not the best fit, slightly bigger than the side window, but they do block out the light very well and stay on the window very well , good for reflecting heat. For the price they are OK.

I would look at Projekt Camper (translate their page).

Not the cheapest. But by far the best. Magnetised, the geometric patterns jolly things up. Once you try, you won’t regret.

Consider yourself lucky if the blind actually stays down!!

It stays down but I'm an early bird so raising it first thing in the morning to open the door floods the van with sunlight.

I bought caravan curtain rail and stuck it to the bottom of the existing blind with Gorilla double sided tape, and then made a curtain. I do not use the blind at all. I did this in 2018, and it is still going strong. It is great if someone wants to change in the daytime on a hot day. Privacy without shutting the door

That looks as if there is some sort of surgical procedure being carried out!

That’s an interesting observation… never thought of it as a nuisance having to lift them to exit the van … overnight we crack both side windows open 10-20mm or so to allow fresh ventilation thru the van to prevent condensation build up …. the inbuilt sliding blinds allow this to occur… doesn’t the suggested thermal blinds prevent this happening by in effect sealing up ventilation thru the window openings?

Alternatively, we fit this aftermarket louvre over the fully opened passenger side window if it looks like rain or may be a mosquito/ midge problem, so this can only work with the slide down blinds inside rather than thermal blankets… ( we have them on the front passenger & driver side window + windscreen ( as they work better than the VW ones … doesn’t mean we never use the VW ones though).

I second the Project Camper recommendation. We use their front screen blind and the sliding door blind in our Beach and I'm very happy with them.
I own a Beach but didn’t find it easy to identify the specific sliding door blind on the PC site. Can you clarify which one it is? TIA
