Retrofit PDC - any one done it themselves or bought the kit from carsystems.eu?

My 2017 Cali Ocean (spec'd for Denmark market, sold in Germany, now in Slovenia!) didn't come with Parking sensors. After some discussion and threads on the T6 forum, A company, carsystem.eu in Poland, were recommended as supplying VW parts in kit form to be able to retrofit front and rear sensors, module and all ancillaries. All I had to do was worry about programming.

I took the plunge and purchased a kit. Sure enough, all the hardware is VW (sensors, module, beepers, switch) except the wiring loom. The instructions are appalling and are from an unrelated German company that seems to supply all the bits but as separate items. The document supplied is vague, misses out fitting the rear sensors completely and has you soldering into the wiring system and stuffing modules behind dash panels. Not quite plug and play into the vacant holes where PDC should be.

The sensors in the bumper are in. Removing the bumper covers and drilling was a bit daunting, but manageable, Routing the wiring was more difficult due to the lack of instructions but again, was manageable. I am now stuck with making the final connecting in the cabin area.

Here come the questions....
  • Anyone else done this before, specifically with the kit from carsystems.eu?
  • Anyone have info relating to where things should go and be connected inside the cabin?
I have some of the manuals relating to electricals from my subscription with the T6 forum, but cannot find the chassis and bodywork manual to which other documents refer too. I can see where the module and front buzzer are supposed to be but I cannot get to the space (dash out?) Other things like splicing into existing cables and soldering to pins in a wiring harness plug scare's the jeebies out of me.

Haven't even thought about programming yet!

I am also going to ask the same on the T6 forum, seeing as that is where the info for the kit came from in the first place.

Sign up to Erwin for an hour (£8 ish) and download everything you need.
Have your VIN to hand when you do.

Do it before 12 December.

Hi, this sounds like a question for the T6fotum. They are a very helpful bunch and do lots of mods to their vans.

I did this.... what a horrible experience.

I thought I would be able to download chunks of workshop manual, but the whole site is set up like each accessible section is one item only. Search is appealing!. More often than not, it does the Haynes thing or "step one, refer to section X to remove engine", "step 2, refer to section Y to dismantle the woofle valve"

No wonder hourly rates are expensive if tech need to spend 6 hours surfing through this to change a light bulb!

I signed up as a company, hopefully I can still get access after the 12th December.
