Hi,
Have a California coach hi top, the window in the sliding door is currently secured with a length of dowel, I assume there is a more secure method, anyone able to post a photo/ provide details of a supplier? Tthanks

Hey there @syncrostan. Quite few variations of window were available in the slidingdoor/kitchen. Any chance of a photo of yours so we know which type we're dealing with specifically?

Interesting. We have the same window in our pop-top Westy. Can't really figure out what job your piece of dowel is performing. Has got a seal behind it? What happens when you remove the dowel? I assume the window won't operate correctly.

Windows are double glazed units, the dowel stops the sliding side of the window from sliding, I assume that the dowel replaces a locking bar or similar which can be repositioned in the other holes across the bottom of the frame to allow different degrees of opening?

Yep. Ours is double glazed. The sliding part isn't though. As with yours. The catch on the left of the sliding window is what should secure the window at various points along the rail - inc fully closed. I can't see how the dowel would perform this task unless you lay it horizontally and wedge it against the catch. Puzzled.

Thanks, already got the catch mentioned, but have always had the piece of dowel as can be seen in the photo, just assumed that it replicated something that was missing. Now removed :thumb

Was the Dowel just placed there or Jammed/Fixed in place?

Could be there as Anti-Breakin, or Seal damaged/missing?

Probably anti breakin, last owner travelled extensively, and suffered a few breaking over the years.
