I'm afraid I didn't get a quote. I now fold the bottom trim back on itself until it reaches the top of the window, and then secure it with a strong plastic bulldog type clip. It's not pretty, but does the job - and defers the expenditure until next year

Has anyone got a quote from VW for rear blind replacement, or had it successfully implemented by VW? I see in another recent thread that the dealer has made a mess of the implementation leaving big gaps around the trim. It makes me wonder whether the job is best left to some other kind of professional - maybe a panel intaller or conversion specialist? Any ideas welcome. I certainly don't fancy taking on this job myself but wonder whether VW have the skills either.

Did you manage to get the trim flush again, when you did it ... just wondering how the dealer managed to leave a huge gap when they did mine, and if it’s an easy fix for them to correct it, don’t have much faith in them

The 2 sections interlock via metal clips on the inside of one section.
Once the original joint is split then it seems that the 2 sections are more prone to come loose the the plastic seam on the other section is now weakened - resulting in the gap shown in your photographs.
A sharp knock with your hand will push the 2 sections together. But the repeated action of opening and closing the tailgate is likely to open up the joint again.
I am considering using plastic rivet pins to hold the sections together. This will mean drill holes through the 2 sections though.

Icic - Thanks for letting us know the cost. Does the £325+VAT include the cost of the blind as well? Even without it's something I would be prepared to pay - given Birty's experience - if only they could do it right. Sounds like VW needs to invest in training specialists in tailgate panel dissambly/assembly. I'm still minded to go with them, but fully expect to have gaps left around the trim afterwards.

I need to check the exact location for the best fixing point, but somewhere here each side. I need to make sure I have good plastic to drill through in both pieces.
I have some of the plastic removable pop type rivets that are already used on the inside of the tailgate trim.

That’s makes sense. So I have been banging the trim, it’s closed up at the points you marked, but won’t close up along the sides or at the bottom along the window, so again think dealer has not done it correctly. Out of interest where the wiper is does the trim completely fit to the window or is there always a gap there. Seems wider than of the window trim gap

I have the same problem - rear door blind stuck and not retracting - it was getting sticky but ive always managed to coax it back until now. The blind has what looks like mould on the material so i am thinking there has been some moisture ingress. Reading others experience of removing the rear panel i am thinking i might cut out the blind and sit the cover back in with bluetack - and ask my mum to know up some pretty curtains. I will get the blind replaced if i ever need a rear repair.
Califate - Carefully cut off the blind, and get an internal rear window insulation panel from Brandrup (watch for the model year) - it attaches with velcro. I think mine cost £26 - fits perfectly and blocks out the light.
I may get around to replacing the blind in time, but very happy with this solution.

Hi - resurrecting this thread. Anyone replaced their rear blind recently?
Could do with some advice as to how the 3 pieces of rear trim disassemble so I can access the blind unit screws. I've managed to take the panel off the tailgate and it appears as though the top section of the panel is held on with 2 screws?
Is everything else just clips? I've spent this afternoon trying to take the 'front' of the trim off that covers the blind but for the life of me can't work it out and I really don't want to break / damage anything!
Any advice / guidance appreciated!
