Has anyone stayed close to Paris in their Cali? If so which sites do you recommend? My daughter would like to visit and taking the Cali seems like the obvious choice.

Haven't been personally, but have this one saved in our list:

No, but don't forget your crit'air sticker. It takes a few weeks to come through.
Probably best to stay on the outskirts near a train station.
Not sure how deep into Paris you can go without a crit'air vignette. I got mine just in case we have an emergency and need to go in. We only use the tolls to go to the Apls but haven't been down for a few years. So not sure about the zones.

Yes - can highly recommend the Huttopia site at Versailles. We've stayed there twice. Great site and facilities, a short cycle to the sights of Versailles, and the nearby train station takes you straight into the centre quickly and affordably.

If you are looking to still pretty much in Paris then Camping de Paris in Bois de Boulogne is the closet campsite for Paris. It isn't cheap but there is a shuttle bus that will run you into central Paris and a taxi from the Eiffel Tower to there at midnight is only 15-20€.

Exactly. I parked out near Orly airport and took the train into the center. The fare was only 2 euro each way for a 45 min journey. Ludicrously cheap.

Metro station on the doorstep. Cycle pathway along the Seine into centre.
On site restaurant but many more within short walk.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I've managed to get a small apartment in Montmatre and Eurostar tickets for less than the ferry, fuel and pitch costs!

I've done it a few times. Definitely the answer.

Stayed there twice now, short walk to station which takes you to Arc de Triomphe in 20 mins. Good site with great facilities. If you go off season you can use your ACSI card for discount too.
Maison Laffitte is very pleasant with a nice boulevard of shops and cafes, and has a chateau to visit.

OP is sorted but adding for the record...

I stayed in Melun at Camping Belle Etoile during the Paris Olympics. It was good for a few nights. The station is a 10 minute walk from the site and gets you into Gare de Lyon in 30 mins.

We stopped over there last summer en route to the Alps. Easy walk to the station. It gets very busy. Book ahead.
