2016 California. Das kaput auto.

on our way back from the lakes the coil light started flashing. We had to refuel, so I thought that might reset the engine and hopefully the fault.

It went away but as soon as i started to get going again the coil warning started flashing and then not long after the catalytic converter light came on solidly.

Phoned assistance and they’re in their way. We’re at least 1.5hrs from home with wife, two kids and a dog. Good job the heater works it’s Baltic out there!

mine needed a dpf sensor when that Ihappened. was ok to drive still so I reckon vw assistance will do a pc check and get you on your way shortly.good luck

Assistance were with us within an hour. He plugged in a computer which suggested an EGR problem. He signed us off to drive home as long as no other warning things came on, which they didn’t. The acceleration was slow but otherwise drove fine.

I’ll phone the dealer in the morning to get fixed hopefully. Will let you know what it was.

What makes me laugh a bit was that I used to have a Landie Disco. Given their reputation for reliability it did better than the Cali by not having any faults for 4 or 5 years- only managed a year and half in the Cali!

Still the bills when they did come for the Disco were always ridiculous - even servicing was horrifying!

The EGR valve is being repaired.
Have been given a rental Cali in the meantime. VW have been good and easy to deal with, which is good.
