Just been away for the weekend and on the way back two fault lights have appeared!!
1) Yellow engine symbol (catalytic converter faulty).
2) Yellow flashing engine management symbol.
2012 van with about 17000 miles.
The van is running fine.
Any idea,s out there.
Many thanks
Dave

You don't say which vehicle you have, 140 or 180, so this may not be correct but the Likelihood is the EGR valve has failed closed.
You have 2 options.
1. Remove the EGR valve and clean it and then reset Fault lights.
2. Replace EGR valve assembly and reset Fault lights.

The EGR valve has been updated over the years and the earlier ones were prone to failure. Infact VW did pay for earlier ones to be replaced out of warranty but I think they no longer do this although you could try VCCS for a contribution.

Replacement on the 140 is straightforward but the 180 is more expensive as it is more involved.

Thanks for the reply.
The van is a 140 hp manual.
Knowledge is power when I pop to the garage lol

Do you have access to a Carista or VCDS, always worth trying as this will give you a specific error code/s.

Fault lights sorted.
Turned out to be faulty temp sensor in the catalytic converter (one of four detectors!!).
Great service from local garage.
Thanks once again for the on line help
