Hi

Extremely pleased with our new Oryx white Beach with some great extras (heater, bike rack, alcantra seats, rear parking sensor, etc). Van is exceeding expectations.

Only issue experienced is that the DAB of s missing from the Media Unit and they have fitted an auto dab unit which doesn’t work. Currently in negotiations with VW on options. I have contacted a VW retrofit specialist and looking at £1,200 to get a new unit fitted with DAB. Obviously, going to try VW for this as van has been sold not as described. Any other experiences with this issue.

Thanks all.

:welcome sounds amazing. Yee, the dab should be included/ fixed by vw!! I believe VW also do a Kenwood retrofit designed for the t6, about £1k and comes with sat va, app connext etc. Try and get vw to fit one for you ;-)

Hi unfortunately from factory for a short production run of some 2018 vehicles the incorrect radio units were fitted without a Dab tuner. The fix from vwuk was to fit an auto dab kit the problem was they also got this wrong and sent out the wrong auto Dab kits to dealers. The kits sent out were for the UDS CAN communication platform used by T5gp and not the MQB platform used by T6. This has now been sorted out and the correct auto dab kits have been sent ot to dealers to fit to all vehicles effected in the production run. The problem being is it’s not as easy as it would seem just to swap out the radio and put a DAB one in as the radio is now part of the immobilizer system and needs to be adapted to the vehicle, also from a dealer prospective we have to down load the information held at factory for your specific vehicle and up load it to your radio unit because the information held at factory for your vehicle would be for a unit without dab it would code the new radio as such. The factory would have to write a config file and change your vehicles data to enable a dealer to correctly install a dab factory fit unit. Hope that makes sence.

Thanks all for your useful insights. I will see how HQ customer care respond to my case.

Good luck Jon - persistence is vital with VW & try not to let this smaller issue take the shine off an overall great experience.

I became uncomfortable pushing my Dealer to retrofit the missing cruise control which was a ‘must have’ for me this time, but you need to show them you’ll not let it drop. Sounds like you have all the ammo above.

I think the other thread shows that if pushed, vw will correct this properly, without any add on kits. Anyone therefore accepting a 'kit' or stick on aerial is missing a trick, which they'll regret in everyday use and when they come to sell their vans.

Did you get the issue with the missing DAB sorted , I had the same issue and to cut a very long story short, I got the dealer to pay for a new unit to be fitted by a third party approved installer (3 year warranty).
The basis of my argument was on mis selling, fortunately I as able to show the original advert showed DAB radio.

Don’t put up with the fob off regarding the VW factory issue and the really poor Auto DAB they say VW provide as a “fix”
