680 Alarm

Anyone know what alarm system is fitted the the GC 680? VW didn't know, said it wasn't listed on their system.
Is it a Thatcham?

The spec does not quote as you say was asked for insurance and quoted it has a factory fitted system that sufficed..

Thanks for the reply, yes it's for insurance purposes too. I suppose if it was a Thatcham they would have highlighted it in every publication so presumably its just a standard alarm/immobiliser.

I would check the document carefully. The Caravellle and California are mentioned in the Car section. But the Grand California is not mentioned by name but the base vehicle is mentioned in the LCV section.

So it's a Thatcham category 1 in all Crafters after 2006.
Everyone reading this will on the phone to their insurance companies now to see if it brings their premium down!

I haven't decided which insurer I'm going with yet but that was the difference in quotes from gocompare and the insurer was performance direct/Grove and dean. But I'm thinking twice about going with one of these cheaper insurers due to some of the reveiws.

If Specialist Insurers are quoting more then there is a reason for that discrepancy. Check the small print.

Try LV but ask all the relevant important questions.
