a solar panel question

Hi
I'm just about to install a solar panel on my cali, I just have a query I wanted to run past people - gcse physics was a long time ago!
I'm looking at a 170w panel with an eco-worthy controller to connect to the battery under the wardrobe thinking that both the leisure batteries wired in parallel will be charged. Am I barking up the right tree?
