Acsi 2019

Were these from vicarious in Folkstone?
If so some reading and planning when i get back to the UK

Nope, just online automatic renewal. Arrived in the post yesterday, just a heads up on anyone waiting

Ours arrived today - but only just! The packaging was on its last legs!

Now planning the Transylvania trip for may/June .

Mine came in a Royal Mail bag today with a notice that it was received damaged at point of entry into UK.
Opening it I found a soggy parcel with unuseable books inside.
Drying out won't make it any better as pages are glued together as is the Membership card.

Email sent now waiting for ACSI response.

Found the iPad app more useful than the books in all honesty.

On the road we use the app too, as well as several other apps. But it's nice at this time of year when the books arrive to roughly plan where you might like to stopover on a trip, or look up at the map to see if there are sites near the places you want to visit.

A quick look at the map confirmed what we had already picked up from the forum that in Romania and the Baltics we'll be relying on other apps.

Outside the countries covered by ASCI - Archies has a good App .

Wild camping is considered an undeniable right by many Romanians. The campsites which exist do so for their facilities which we found basic but very clean.

Card in book no 2 beyond recovery.
Like others I use the books for an overview and use the App mostly for final decision with reference to the reviews.

ACSI have responded already to advise that a new set of books will be sent.

Thanks, we'd followed that bit of your journey with interest. There was another post during the summer that included some great info on the Balkans as well. We'll try to document our trip as well - assuming we're let across the channel after March.

We took the initiative of getting our IDPs last week, just in case. Queuing in one of the few POs that do them was bad enough but imagine if every driver in the UK who needs to drive in the EU needs one from April... Pandemonium...

As a % of the population of Drivers, probably not that great, and the reverse would be true also.

How many drivers realise you need an IDP for many countries around the world anyway. Even in France it is recommended.

Just ordering my ACSI book, am I being thick but do I need to order membership at €4.95 plus book at €16.95 or do I just order the book?

Membership gets you an App with full site information which gets updated periodically.

I think that you are referring to the ID Card which you can leave on European sites instead of your passport. Not essential but well worth it to keep your Passport in your possession.
ACSI what to buy or you need isn't the easiest to follow through when ordering.
I have gone for the +App option with the ID Card.
Apps good as you pick the area then look at sites there, read reviews, look at pictures of the site and pick the one that fits your criteria.
