We are planning to spend October in France arriving Roscoff around 20/9/14 and making way to meet some friends in Nice via Perpignan. Looking for advice regarding booking occasional campsites en route but as will be out of season wondering how many are likely to be open?

Help and advice appreciated.

Cheers

In France are plenty "aires" if you're not planning to stay in one place just go with the flow and search for aires along your route....
Some aires have electric hook up , fresch-waste water,...some are just piches on a parkinglot some are in very nice green envirement,....what more can you ask for?

Beware that as from half september many touristic things in France, including campsites go in to "wintermodus"

If you look at www.campingcheque.co.uk website, you can do an advanced search with your dates and area you want to go to and campsite involved in this scheme will show up. You pay £14.95/night for 2 adults, pitch and electric, per camping cheque. We used this scheme last year when we went to Mont St Michel at Easter time.

Or see if you have a friend who camps out off season with a ACSI book & card. Again you can look on there website and as above can do an advanced search with dates and area. Prices range between 12€ - 18€ per night for 2 adults, pitch and electric. You need to show the card to get the appropriate tariff. www.eurocampings.co.uk.

Hope this is of some help, happy hunting.

Arcachon has a late season, a pleasant seaside town with beaches.

We were here last year in early October. West coast of France. Nice campsite in the town which offers pleasant walk to the town centre.

It is near dune du Pilat which us europe's largest sand dune. Quite bizarre
