airco climatronic without motor running

Hi,

I read in the manual that airco (in our car: climatronic) is only usable with the motor running.
The VW seller told us it was also possible with contact on and branched to the 230V electricity. I better believe the manual?

There is a rest button that will work climatronic for half an hour after you turn engine off.
So yes manual is correct.
