Alarm in camping mode

The van was set to camping mode on the infotainment system this afternoon and I had the roof raised.

The supplement manual suggests that in this situation I should be able to lock the doors without the alarm going off by accident.

However, when I locked the doors to go back into the house for lunch the alarm went off about half an hour later. It was quite windy and the bellows windows were open, but I was surprised.

Any ideas what I did wrong?

Even in camping mode, if you lock from the outside with the key you will enable the interior sensor. Makes sense. If you are away for a bit and someone get’s in, you want the alarm to go off.

According to the manual you would disable on the infotainment menu only. Some on here also advocate a double press of the lock button. Checking the manual again this seems to be a feature of disabling the Dafelock, which also disables the interior alarm. Same check on camping mode in the manual, nothing is deactivated on the alarm in camping mode. Just lights.

This is very useful. Thank you. I have found that section in the main manual now.

I suppose it would be nice to have the alarm active and the roof up, without fearing false alarms. As I say, it was windy and we had the bellows windows open. Do people on here regularly leave their roof up and have the alarm system in operation, but then suffer false alarms?

it is movements downstairs that make the alarm go off, never had false alarms just because roof was up.

But doesn't the switch on the door pillar by the driver do the same thing?

only on very early T6.1
Mine is 2024 registered, so I don’t have the switch by the driver’s door.

Although my opening query has been very kindly answered, this event has made me wonder how many people on here have suffered false alarms having left their roof up? (I appreciate that there is a separate debate to be had about the wisdom of leaving your van unsupervised for a long period of time with the roof up).

I remember someone here saying that if it's windy the alarm might be triggered because the bellows are moving - this can be averted by lowering the roof bed and closing the shutter before leaving the van. We've done that a couple of times.

But maybe just easier to just push the button to lower the roof though? Unless you are concerned to preserve the leisure battery perhaps?

Sorry, I didn't mean lowering the roof, just pulling the bed inside down.
I do understand.

Pulling the bed down is easy, but closing the shutter is much more bothersome with the 6.1 bellows compared to the bellows of my old 5.1. It would be easier for me to close the roof and leave the shutter. Perhaps lowering the bed alone as you suggest is enough to prevent false alarms.

The roof will still be up so the shutter will slide across with no problems as the bellows are not in the way.

On the touch screen I always go into:

car
settings
opening and closing
Untick interior monitoring

If you want the alarm on. Just pull the bed down and pull the front cover forward. Always works for me.
