I’ve often mulled over getting better seat covers or even a re-trim, as the pale beige upholstery isn’t very forgiving on my ‘08 SE California.
I’ve had Inka waterproof covers on for the last few years and they’ve been fine, just not very pretty!

I went down the rabbit’s hole of exploring getting the Cali re-trimmed, but with one of the known reputable companies it’s easy to take the cost over £3k with Napa Leather, new sports bolsters, piping and nice stitching.
Since our camping is more of a back to basics affair, there’s no way I could live with such expensive seat covers, as I’d be too precious over them and would end up putting covers over them to protect them I’m sure!!

I’ve always wanted a brown ‘leather’ covers in the Cali, to suit the interior, so have never considered the main contenders as their offerings were not to my liking.

After a long search I found a company on eBay who made covers for a variety of Transporter combinations, and although not listed on their eBay shop, I discovered via a chat with them they could make a set for the California SE. They are also airbag compliant, which was an important factor for me too.

They’ve arrived this week and I’m impressed but the quality of them on the whole. Lots of loops for hooking them up under the seats along with a generally good pattern and fit. The material is ‘Leatherette’, but feels soft and natural, not cheap plastic.

I’ve put them on as a test for now, but it’s way too cold to fit them properly as it’s close to zero out there at the moment and within a few mins I can’t feel my fingers.

Overall I’m really pleased with them, they tick all my boxes, but for sure are not as good as a 3k Napa leather retrim, but for around £400 you get what you pay for.

A few snaps of the initial install, once it warms up I’ll look to fit them properly, as you can see from the snaps there’s a lot of tweaking to do!
