I learned recently that oil does have a shelf life, better kept
at a good temperature.
So that litre of castrol that i have had stored in my battery compartment
for the last 3 years -winter and summer- is probably knackered

A guy told me a few weeks ago, i thought he was taking the ......
then i did a search and saw quite a few topics on the subject, i didnt
read them cos i still couldn't get my head around it.

Car oil lasts about 5 years if stored correctly.

There should not be deposits on the bottom of the container. ... That said, an engine oil'sproperties are best if it is used within two years.


The guy probably meant that i wouldn't get the best out of it.
