Anybody in Ireland could give me advice on motor taxes for GC600.

I just paid the VRT and got the Irish plates for my 2022 Grand California. When I went to pay the motor tax online, they asked for €710 for the year. This seems a lot compared to what I used to pay for my T4 California.

Any advice?

When I registered my Ocean, I couldn’t register for motor tax using the online system as this only works for regular cars and won’t give you the special motorhome discounted motor tax.

There were instructions somewhere for manually requesting the camper rate.

Well, in my case, everything was working perfectly online except for the payment amount.

I called the local tax office, and it seems like I have to do it in person on the first time.

I remember going to the tax office for the first time with my first California, 13 years ago.

Hello,

I can't remember how I paid for the motor tax for the GC 600, but I have paid EUR 104 for the year and I am sure I did not visit a tax office at all.

Yes that’s what I mean. The online system will only let you pay the normal tax amount and won’t give you the motorhome rate.

Maybe you managed to find a helpful tax officer on the phone. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for me.
