Anyone ever swapped vans?

Hi. Bit of an odd question maybe...we love our 2010 Manual T5 SE 180 but we really need an automatic so my wife can share the driving. We don't need it to be new or really much newer than what we have (can't really afford to add much) so wondered if anyone ever swapped vans, or if anyone wanted to? Or what is the best way to swap vans - presumably a trade-in will be the obvious answer. Thanks.

I empathise with situation, and have been trying to think of a smart / novel way to get what you’re looking for.

I think it’ll be a challenge to persuade a private user to move from an auto to manual box. So it’s down to px I think.

Maybe a silly question but could your manual be converted to auto and for how much? Does it offset the cost of change and the risk of buying the unknown ?
Hi. Yes, this was my original idea. The guy at the garage said it would be prohibitively expensive.... maybe I'll get a second opinion. Ta

An idea of a cost would be good, to compare the cost of trading in yours for an auto, the cost of bringing the new one up to your spec (any solar required for example) and then factoring the unknown with a new Cali instead of keeping your old one. Bit of a trek but I wonder if Retro Resus would give you a realistic gearbox conversion cost (Taunton, Somerset) they know transporters well and also do conversion work :)

whatever you do, be aware of the EGR related oil consumption issues with CFCA engines 180bhp as you might find yourself in a very difficult situation.

your best bet is to sale yours private and buy a dsg model from a dealership with warranty or from a trusty site member.
