I’ll read through the manual at some point but can anybody advise what the beeps I occasionally hear might be? Sometimes a single beep and sometimes a double. There doesn't seem to be any obvious reason and no dashboard warning light.
Don’t think it’s my dashcam but will check that also.

a far-fetched one - but did you install a smoke/CO2 alarm? Nothing else that emits a beep.

I did but its not them. I suspect the Blackvue dashcam? Have changed a couple of settings so will see if that’s fixed it. Thanks.

I had the same and it turned out to be the warning beep made by the media unit when it loses the RDS traffic signal. It can be turned off in settings.

Ah, could be? Can you disable it?

The door locks can be enabled with VCDS to single and double beep when opening and closing the locks. We have this set.

But I guess you might hear the activation of the locks from inside the vehicle.

The beeps were set because the key was so sensitive, the locks would open/close when the key was held or placed inside a pocket.

I get them as a distance warning from the ACC. Together with a very small graphic in the centre of the dash.

Ah, another possibility. Will check next time it happens. Thanks

Took me a while to work out what it was. Another one is for exceeding the maximum speed you have set in the system.

Thanks Steve. Don’t believe i’ve set a max speed. Last occurrence was at slow speed approaching a junction.

Have you been very close to something whilst driving? Narrow lane? Even when driving the side, front and rear "parking" sensors are still active. Quite annoying.

Could be the culprit :)

Would side assist do the same thing?

I think side assist specifically detects vehicles in the blind spots rather than things that are very, very close to the vehicle. When the "parking" sensors detect something a picture of the vehicle is activated in the main screen showing you which sensor has been activated. These seem to be permanently activated, even when driving. I assume at higher speeds they deactivate.

Reactions: Sad
Is it caused by a satnav point of interest proximity warning?

There is another similar question to this ( titled mysterious beeps) that I just posted this on. It may or may not apply to you also ? https://vwcaliforniaclub.com/threads/mysterious-beep.38582/

Check you roof is properly closed ( which it probably is )
In hot climates when the temperature is raised we get a single faint beep and our display for the roof starts flashing. For ages we were saying " whats that beep"
It never happens in the UK...only when we are abroad in abnormally sustained hot climates.
Scary when it firsts happens but we are now used to it happening and is now just an annoyance and we turn the radio up : )
When investigated it I was told that early cali's ( ours is 2007 ) had sensitive/faulty roof ram sensors.
This was several years ago and my memory is not as good as it was.
Maybe you can find the thread and read what other people have said about it.
I seem to remember that some people had the sensors/rams changed ( damned expensive to rectify for something that affects us personally for 1% of our journeys) and some tried methods to try to mitigate the heat getting to the sensor but probably best look it up yourself as my memory of it may be incorrect or there maybe more updated information.
There is a secondary warning noise for the roof and you will know about it if it goes off as it's not a discrete faint beep and scares the life out of you if going down an autoroute at 60mph. It's time to pull over if that warning sounds and get the straps out.
I'm not an expert and I'm not saying the beep in your cali is the roof sensor for definite just giving you the benefit of what we experienced and an opportunity to check out the available info for yourself should you think it relevant.
All the best.

Many thanks. Not had the beep for a quite a while now (mind you, not driven that much. I’ll keep the roof sensor ‘issue’ in my memory bank for future reference. Happy beepless New Year

Something heavy on the passenger seat setting off the seatbelt warning beep...like a dog
