Auto locking doors

Had a panic today .... I was miles from anywhere on Harris, Outer hebrides and as i was walking away from the cali all the doors locked .....xxxxx really was in a mess till i found I had my keys with me. Is there a way of disabling this feature? Malc

I think a VW dealer can with a laptop.

Auto locking normally happens if you've locked the doors, then unlocked them and not opened one the van will relock itself.

I think it's different to the Anti Hi Jack locking that happens >15 KMH.

Our Cali is the same age as yours and I had to replace the driver's door lock detectors recently - see this post:

Could be worth testing whether each of the door sensors is detecting that the door has been opened, by unlocking the van and then opening that door. If the sensor has failed it will relock automatically after 30 seconds. Not an uncommon VAG problem, I believe.
