2021 Ocean… I’m not convinced time change is automatic let alone Satnav… At point of sale (2 months ago) I was assured all updates are done “over the air”. I’ve now driven in areas the Satnav failed to recognise and today I’ve had to change the time manually… really? Even my partners 2014 XC60 changes to BST automatically…. Am I missing something to have automatic updates?

I have to tick the bst box on the info display. Agree should be able to update the time automatically.

On my 2024 Multivan it does update automatically - If BST box is ticked in settings.

Latest SatNav Data set for my vehicle is January 2025 - 2501 designation.

If you want to check if your system has the latest update check here.

I think you are mixing OTA updates for software with auto updates for time zones. As WG says, time and DST tend to be a setting in menus.

As an aside, you can easy check if your maps are getting OTA updates as the map number uses the year and month they are released, generally quarterly.

Menu/settings/system informastion.

My nav database is 25.1 - So updated OTA Jan this year.

Thank you @dspuk for that information my navigation database is 20.7! Can you please let me know how to update to 25.1 (or newer)

Well, mine is a July 22 Cali, so still in the 3 years - maybe your VW Connect features are lapsed?

You can go into settings and do an update from there, if it is available and if you (I believe) have a VW Connect subscription.

I’ve just checked my plan. I’ve still got WeConnect plus until July and a feature of that is OTA map updates. You can either subscribe to that as yours will have lapsed or use the free lifetime manual process which needs to download the maps onto a SD card. Or just use Waze like most of us. I have never used the VW sat nav.

Okay thanks for the info… bit annoyed because I specifically asked about software update at the point of purchase and was assured it did it automatically… I assumed wrongly that I would have gotten the latest version or perhaps (just) a years subscription gratis

@dspuk… could please give me an indication of how much phone data you might need to run Waze… I’m wondering if I might need to update my data allowance prior to going away at weekends and France over the summer. Kind regards

As an alternative you might consider the TomTom app (in our case via iphone & carplay). I do no know the Waze app and it is clearly popular but the advantage of TomTom is it does not need internet on the go (though it uses a small amount for traffic updates, if available). There is an annual cost though not much (I have the family membership). It strips out much of the visual 'noise' on the maps which is why I like it in particular, although it is also feature rich (speed cameras, traffic congestion alternative routes, restricted zones etc. etc). In our 70's, we travel all over Europe maxing out on Schengen and it looks after us brillantly.

I found the navigation that came with our Ocean very poor by comparision.
