Avatar upload failing

Can someone advise please -

I tried to upload an image and got the file too large message. No problem.

I resized the image to 250 x 250 (pixels) so it's now 45kb (in jpeg).

And I still get the file size too large error message.

I've logged out and back in again. Closed my broswer and re-opened (in case it's a caching thing) and no change.

Is there a workaround?
