Best toll tag for France, Switzerland, Italy.

Having not used the Autoroutes before (but will be this year), is it really that much faff paying contactless card at each toll booth?
Depends if you have a co-pilot who is happy to do it.
Mine is usually asleep half the time & is rather particular as to how close to the ticket machine I have to stop. For domestic bliss a tag is worth its weight in gold.

Agree 100% Andy , you need a co-pilot, otherwise would be a nightmare

I'm also with Fulli(Mango) and I pay my invoice with a Halifax Clarity credit card. Been payiny with credit card for the last five years when Mango were APRR.
Fulli for us too. TSB payment. Sent our Emovis back as Fulli was/is cheaper overall for fees.

Yeah as people have said, if you always have a co-pilot with you then the tags are less necessary or if your vehicle is LHD as well.

If neither of those are true then the tag makes a lot of sense but even if both of those are true and you travel on French/Spanish/Portugese/Italian toll roads a fair bit then the tag does take a fair amount of messing about out of each journey - depending on how many toll gates you go through I guess. If its just one set per trip each way then I'd say it's not the same as if you went through 4-5 sets each way.

Just reviving this thread a bit. We have had a Bip & Go tag for about the last twelve years but not used it for about three years. Bip & Go have asked for the tag back and say I can't have another one as they are unable to deal with my UK bank (TSB). Bit strange but as there are now so many toll companies around I just wondered who has had recent experience of them (good or bad) as we now need a new tag and will go for a multinational one.
Emovis looks the easy way to go as it has a UK office but is expensive. Anyone one used Ulys? Prices are good and it is owned by one of the French autoroute companies so should be reliable.
Any advice much appreciated.

If you are going to use the new one as infrequently as the old one, go with Emovis. Easy to deal with & no hassle with an ordinary uk bank account.

We used the old one a lot Andy as we had a house in the Pyrenees so were down there regularly. The other half is finally retiring so will on the move a lot more soon.

Fulli at the moment is completely free of fees including postage and no french monthly fees for a year (this wasn't available when I bought my bip & go recently). You'll need a bank account that can make euro sepa dd's from, I have set up a wise account with a euro account attached which serves this purpose.

Fulli is a chunk cheaper than emovis, but if you are unable to provide an account that can make euro payments then Emovis is the only option I think.

Thanks for that I'll have look at it.

I posted previously above on using Fulli Tag reader universally for France, Italy, Spain & Portugal (#51 onwards).

I continue to use the Fulli Tag without problems, but I have discovered that whilst a Revolut account allows SEPA direct debits to Fulli (PROVIDED you transfer funds into Revolut ‘s Euro account) a Starling account does not.

We got a Fulli tag a couple of months ago and used it in France last week. Always nervous the first use if itvwill work. We previously had a Bip and Go tag for about twelve years which was linked to my TSB account. This hadn't been used since before lockdown and I started to get nasty letters from them saying I owed money. In the end I paid using a credit card to shut them up. They then banned me so I called at their Rouen office and found that after Brexit they stopped dealing with UK banks. If they had told me this then I could have sorted it out. Anyway, now got the Fulli four country tag cheaper than Bip and Go and paying through Wise where we have had an account for years.

I have Starling bank account and the toll charges were settled from this account.

@Tim Hook , that is strange. I have re-entered my Starling account several times over a year and it always refuses the SEPA application, so that Fulli then send me a default email with a credit card payment to re-start my Tag.

Have you set up Starling EUR account? I use their EUR account and perhaps that's why it works for me.

No, I haven’t and that must be where I went wrong. I did set one up on Revolut and funded it with Euros, which is why it presumably did work.

Hopefully your post will help others to do it right.

Added note:

I just went into Starling and the app says I was not currently able to set up a Euro account. I need to look further into that. On Revolut it was an easy, almost automatic, option.

Thanks @KGCali, I had just got to the same website page and came back to the forum to find you had posted what I intended to!

So, assuming Revolut still allow a Euro account, as they did for me last year, this seems a good option if you want a Fulli Tag but don’t want international direct debits to you main bank account: I don’t, because I worry over the complication of recovery - with a different country and language - if the direct debits go out of control (stolen tag or whatever).
