The blind behind the kitchen pulls down very easily, then flies back up. I guess some sort of friction or ractchet is broken. Has anyone else experienced this and if so how to fix it?

I fancy a trip to a dealer could mean the removal of internal plastics and a lot of money involved.

I think I have fixed it after some microscopic investigations.

There is a small black plastic slide in one side of the blind. My blind had come out ofit.

Once re-inserted the blind does not fly back up and it stays more or less down. Occasionally there is a small, one inch gap at the bottow. The only down side is the blind does not go all the way back into the void. There appears to be something stopping it. But I can live with this.

Im in Italy and just had the same problem. This sorted it for me, thanks.

I have almost the opposite problem. There is no tension on the blind and I can pull it down but it doesn't want to retract. It's like the roller spring has come loose and is not rewinding the roller mechanism. Anyone have that problem?

I’ve had this happen when it’s hot. I used to wait until it gets cool, or try not to use it if I suspected that it was above ‘threshold heat’ . (Yes, I know!)

Alternatively, vigorous up and down movements, but in an overall upwards motion can ‘trick’ it back into place. (Yes, I know - again!)

That’s exactly when the problem started; on an exceptionally hot day. Thanks, I’ll try your recommendation.

FIXED!!! The problem and the fix was just as Anthony1 said above. The small black tab had come loose on a hot summer day (I know, here in England??). The tab is on a strong curtain string like on Velux blinds and goes up and down on a pulley-type system. It was a matter of pulling the side (tab intact) down while holding the other side to be repaired at the top of the window until there was enough slack to pull the blind away from the window. At the bottom of the blind there is a slot inside the plastic rod where the black tab is inserted. Push hard. Once that is done, the blind should work. As an added measure, I carefully lubricated the slides with dry lube PTFE though whether that's actually needed I don't know. Anyway, the blind works and slides freely.
