Bonnet protector

I recall comparing my F type with a boy racer at work who had an M4. His bonnet was totally trashed and mine was new. At first I thought it was a dodgy paint job until one day he tailgated me out of work and for a couple of miles afterwards.

You can always spot the tailgater's by their bonnets.
I had never put the two issues together, but it now seems obvious. I recently sold my 9 year old 5.1 and the new owners were amazed by the bodywork. I always leave a huge gap behind the vehicle in front of me and I am amazed at how close people drive.

So, bringing things back to the op, any ostensible ‘need’ for a bonnet protector may be mitigated by safe driving!

I didn’t even know bonnet protectors were a thing. You learn something new everyday.

I did nothing to my bonnet, and after 15 years, there are a few stone chips, but with a small touch up pen, you can only tell when you are looking very closely.
I would go with the clear protection film, but that you will have to change every few years because of fading, getting loose at the corners, stone chips, ...
It's up to you to decide.
Which make of touch up pen would you recommend? Thanks

We had PPF applied to all the front facing areas of our MY19 T6 and it still looks perfect today after 32,000 miles! They also put the PPF along the bottom of the side panels, around the fuel filler and rear bumper. Well worth it and still get remarks as to how clean it looks after that amount of time and miles!

We had a half bonnet bra on our old T5 conversion. Seemed fine to start with but after a while I noticed how road grime got washed down from top of bonnet under top edge and start to wear bonnet. The old T5 had really thick paint on it but we noticed it had faded quite a lot where protector not fitted which I surpirsed with on Candy White and took my son quite a while to polish all back to original colour so never again. I'll keep it nicely polished and use touch up pen as needed.

Had the same comments regarding my T5.1, including the Dealership when I traded it in after 10 yrs and 134 000 miles. No PPF.

Hi everyone can anyone recommend a bonnet protector for my grey t6?
As everything it’s a bit of a minefield!
Thanks in advance
I fitted a carbon fibre bonnet bra from Vanstyle in 2020 and fitted on my new Ocean. Today, it is still like new, and I remove it annually to clean and polish the bonnet, and I have zero stone chips, but have a few on my windscreen and front bumper. Our local VW Van Centre asked me if my bonnet had been wrapped; the bra fits so well with no creases at all. Highly recommend!

Hi - I have had mine wrapped and as part of the process I had a clear wrap fitted to the bonnet. It’s worth costing just to get this done for protection from stone chips etc.
