Is there any good book for newbies in this VW california life?

Thank you very much.

Handbook's a good start. Tough read though.

Just use this forum for a bit; you'll soon be an expert ;)

once you have finished the handbook and the cali supplement, then the training guide in the VIP section is considered advanced study :)

I guess its more of a lifestyle question than anything else. The forum is fabulous, but what to pack, what do you need to visit a particular country etc is only tackled indirectly here. Whilst there is lots of joy to be had discovering these things for your self (or maybe a few seriously large fines in some cases), you can glean an awful lot from a few sources. I used the following:
1) A general guide. https://www.vicarious-shop.com/Go-Motor ... 78119.html. This book is very rude about VW campervans to start with but actually is packed with useful tidbits, things to think about, documents to pack, issues you would not have dreamed of. I like using other people's experience (Bismarck - only a fool learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from other peoples) - so this is a good place to start;
2 What to pack. I found a couple of websites that were very useful, The first one is Wildabout Scotland (http://wildaboutscotland.com/2013/06/04 ... amper-van/) which was really insightful about what and how to pack a Cali and the other was Our tour (http://ourtour.co.uk/home/ourtour-motor ... king-list/).
You won't need everything on these lists. Grab a few basics and work the rest out over time. See what other people have / do on your trips.
Our current 'buy' list includes a soft brush to take the sand off sandy children!
