Hi, just a quick question. Has anybody got any views, opinions or experience of using Brit Stops? Is it worth paying for the app?
Thanks

I binned mine. It’s hard work in the Cali (IMHO) not having facilities and when I was on the FB group it was full of people moaning about the sites and having to buy food. Mostly white whale drivers. So ditched the group and threw the book away. It also seems full of people either not being open or changing their rules. CBA with the faff TBH.

Always worked well for us, but I'm sceptical of the price increase and them being subsumed by the American buyer. I'm not sure it needs to be any more complicated than the current system; the simplicity of the model was always one of the selling points.

You pay for the subscription, then you can use the book and/or the app to search for locations.

Tried it for a year and found a few good sites, vineyard, farm shop etc.
The majority of the “sites“ listed seemed to be pubs offering use of their car parks.
Despite the Britstop “rule” that there was no obligation to spend money at the site/business that is obviously what is expected.

We've tried a few of these pub car parks, where it's free to camp if you buy food.
Ok if you're stuck for a place to stay or like to eat overpriced pub food, but we're not huge fans.

I got the book and app for last year. Didn’t use it once, for me the searchforsites app is a much better option.

Exactly the same for me

I use searchforsites too.
If you register online you can access whole site for free (including Brist stops , member and non-member sites).
I believe there is a charge to use the app.
Yes the www version is free, albeit with no filtering, whereas the app is paid but it’s only £5.99 and imo it’s well worth supporting a great service.
