You have to be a member of the camping and caravan club to use this site. Spent a lovely week at the beginning of August at the site. Peter and Debbie the site owners were wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble and greeted us with a box of freshly laid eggs. Being a small holding there are numerous animals around the site including, chickens, goats, ponies, alpacas, dogs and a cat. Peter enlisted the help of the children to feed the animals whenever we were about at feeding time, which the kids loved. The site its-self is well cared for with good facilities. It has both good hard standings and terraced grass pitches. One nice facility was the day room with seating, a microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and freezer all luxuries on a CL. All this for only £15 a unit was amazing value. This site was a real gem of a find and I cannot recommend it enough.

I have to agree with this @Bigted ! The best campsite we've stayed at in ... well, ever. It was quiet, perfectly maintained, beautiful, with wonderful facilities and great hosts in Peter and Debbie.

I suggested to Peter that they advertise on this forum because it's a perfect site for vans (in fact, the dreaded towed whites aren't even allowed. Yay!)

Peter has been in touch, I will give him a call tomorrow, thanks for pointing him our way.

I did not even know this campsite existed and it's only 25 mins up the road from me.

Me neither and I go through fairy cross pretty regularly. How unobserved of Me!

I went here this weekend and it really is a great campsite as people have said above. The site is small but with excellent clean facilities, it even has a room you can go to if the weather is bad that has a selection of snacks and drinks plus a microwave, kettle, toaster etc..

They have level grass pitches and also hard standing so is ideal for all year round camping all with nice countryside views.

So if you are looking to camp in North Devon I would certainly give them a try as it is located close to all the main attractions and beaches. Also you can now book without being a member of the Caravan Club as they are now part of Freedom Camping

Don't forgt to mention the club if you book..

You can now book online via Freedom Camping so you don't have to be a member of the C&MC, make sure you mention the club when you arrive.

I joined yesterday and they ask what type of camping unit you have, tent, caravan, motorhome, or other.
They don't mention campervan. I emailed them to ask if they could add that category as some of the CL sites we have been to it could be difficult or impossible for a caravan or larger motorhome to get to.
This was part of the attraction for us as they tended to be quieter and less commercialised.
Broad Park site was on the C&CC online list, but has now been removed so I expect a number of other sites might go from their list as well.
Membership of Freedom Camping is free https://www.freedomcampingclub.org/ and from their map they seem to have a lot of sites on their lists.
I don't know if campsites can be on their list and the C&MC or C&CC ones as well so if a favourite CL site has disappeared from the bigger clubs list, check on Freedom Camping.

As a small bonus, if you are a VIP member, just mention the club and your username and get half a dozen free range eggs which will have been laid just a few feet away from your pitch !

@Sad and I stayed there last weekend. It was a brilliant spot. Only a few minutes from the A39, well laid out, great pitch sizes. We had a grass pitch which was in good nick considering how wet the year has been. Lovely smallholding with some animals that the kids staying on site enjoyed feeding. The owners are great - really friendly and have thought of eveything. Couldn't praise it enough. If you're looking for a beautiful, small site in North Devon, this is for you. If you're so inclined, you can read about it on our blog - https://outlawsontour.wordpress.com/
