Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, I'm on a site with little mobile coverage and searching the forum is impossible!
Anyhow.....
One of the 2 hinges on the fridge has snapped (not the gas strut).
Are they easily sourced?

Thanks in advance

Just noticed the "Anyone had this break" thread covers the same topic. Will watch that thread.

Yes, in a way. VW sell them, and the Forum shop, but wait for it - just a shade under £60 / hinge.

I have found somewhere you can get them. A company called [ SUPPLIER ASKED FOR THIS LINK TO BE REMOVED]
They are £15 each brass colour not plated but at £15 who cares. They are a PERFECT fit I have tried one myself. Its worth having a couple of spares in the van for that price.

The hinge arrived 2 days later and was on the fridge in a jiffy.
Be careful not to lose the washer from the gas strut.
A dedicated Allen key is probably better than the multi Allen key tool I used as the size of it can be restrictive in the tight space getting the hinge on and off.

This is super helpful. Just ordering some now. Will also have to go and find some allen keys (as in france) anyone know what size is needed?

Could you PM me the link please?

I will try and find an invoice but from looking at the thread the company that supplied them changed their mind about having their name on here. From what I can remember he asked me to put it on so he would get some sales.

I've searched for an invoice or email and can't find anything. Will post it if I do.

You'll probably need to delete that in a minute, Peter

I’ve just found the details and all my emails to the company agreeing to post details on 2 threads regarding these hinges. He never said anything after that about not posting details. Well I will just wait for the big slap on the wrist for helping someone on here. When I started looking for them over 2 years ago the California shop were selling them for £60. Maybe they didn’t like that you could get them for £15.

Just as additional information, there is another way that the fridge hinge can fail. I experienced this. There are two small screws made out of steel, that hold the hinge to the aluminum ridge behind. Those threaded holes in the aluminum ridge can suffer damage, especially if the screws are a little bit loose, or tighten to hard (!). Exactly this happened to me. The small screws did not work anymore, couldn’t thighten them, just span around. Those to screws were metric ones, I think it was M3. So I manage to source suitable stainless screws in M4 size. Drilled the holes and re tapped it to M4. Used some Loctite blue type, and pulled those screws snug. Now worked fine for 2-3 years. Permanent fixe :)

If you look at the hinge they are actually quite complicated and you really don’t take any notice what they look like (until one snaps). Mine was actually replaced under warranty but I decided to try my best to find a couple of spares because they can brake easily and leave you in the poo if you are away on a long trip. Sod’s law states that I will probably ever need a spare but I’ve got a couple now just in case.

Hi does anyone have a link to these hinges at a decent price? Only need 1 and the heimwerkertools link doesnt seem to be working - maybe sold out.

Did you try Perceptive fittings on my previous post? That’s where I got mine.
Will message them now cheers

Sadly they have replied and said not had them in stock for a few years

Have been told they are called Sepa hinges from Germany and a google search brings up a few options from across the pond websites.

I thought the Pond was the Atlantic.
If it is then surely you mean across the river. :)

Anyway, i think there are a few links on this thread.

Yeah it is doh! Thanks did look there first.

I was wondering if anyone had any updates on the availability of these hinges? I have tried Hafle direct but although the item is listed they are trade only. Heimwerker (in Germany also) don't stock them any more and my searches are drawing blanks. Perceptive Fittings in UK no longer stock it. £60 seems so over the top for such a small part, but maybe it is just very specialised and it costs money to hold stock...
