Broken Torsion Spring Drawer

The drawer under the sofa bed of my T5 from 2005 no longer locks, a torsion spring on the right side has broken off, the dealer in the Netherlands cannot/will not supply this, just buy a new drawer (€ 900.00) they say. Does anyone have a solution for this or a company that supplies this torsion spring?

You will need to measure the torsion spring with a digital Vernier and then see if you can find a replacement

Get one made. The company mentioned in this thread can sort you out.

£547.80 to purchase new latch spring for pull out drawer!

So the catch is you can't buy just the spring, you have to buy the complete drawer. While on a recent trip the drawer was closed and a loud ping was heard. Back home I removed the large drawer under the rear seat and found that the spring holding the latch in the locked position had broken where...

Even with the VW luxury parts premium I doubt the little drawer is quoted at 900 Euro, even in the Netherlands.
