Replacement drawer under the bench seat T5 Cali

Hi there,
The drawer spring coil opening mechanism for the drawer under the bench seat in our T5 has broken. I’ve searched online, JK, Campervantastic, vwparts, eBay, gumtree etc, but there doesn’t seem to be any replacement drawers that you can buy.
Does anyone know how we can replace this and fix it?

There is a Allen key screw that comes loose and that knackers the mechanism. Twice in 11 years I’ve had to fix this. All it needs is a tighten. Second time I put a blob of glue on it. It’s not that difficult to see and fix particularly if the drawer opens. If it’s stuck then you need to pull up the seat base from the back so you can access the drawer and jiggle the catch.

No. It just needs someone with a little common sense and an IQ greater than their shoe size.

Haha! On the phone to vw parts now, and they’re quoting over £1300 now + vat, just for the part and then labour on top, saying we have to replace the entire under seat unit....
