Budget 2015 VED changes

From April 2017 I read that all new vehicles over £40k will be subject to an additional £310 suplpement for the first 5 years. That's in addition to the already very steep first year charge, although this reduces to a flat £140 thereafter, so £450 a year after year 1.
Most Cali's will therefore qualify for this...ouch!

But, over the average length of ownership, is there such a big overall increase.?

Well by some very rough maths year 1 will be around £500 more than at present, then around £150 more for the next 4 years. It does add up to around £1k but I understand if you keep for say 10 years, it will work itself out with the lower VED in year 6 onwards.
Many people seem to change when out of warranty though, so will be hit hardest!
These are rough figures and of course this all depends on the emissions of the T6 come April 2017.
