I am pleased that you are approaching resolution.

Looking forward to a new vehicle is one of those great joys in life and to have the experience tarnished in that way is so disappointing

They were completely unable to answer my questions about the warranty position on the retro-fitted system. I'm not sure that "I've never known one fail" really cuts it as I would have had a full 5 year VW warranty on it if fitted in the factory. I'm awaiting the written reponse on that as well.

They most definitely do fail as I had to have 2 replaced under warranty. So make sure you do get the warranty issue sorted.
