Bullet hole in roof travelling in France

The municipal police lady put her finger in the hole and she whistled, we shall report it to police in UK and show them the police report once we have translated it via Google app. We still have some unanswered questions and would like to know what sort of gun it was, and what distance and what angle the shot was taken, after reading the above link we did pass two bridges. We shall go to a VW authorised dealer to check if we have it repaired that it will not affect the warranty as if we get roof corrosion like a lot of Cali's we don't want them saying it is not valid. We hope no one else ever has this experience, yes we have thought of many ifs and buts if we were faster, slower if the shot was higher or lower, not good. But we can get it repaired somehow with or without insurance, and the sun was shining. And the surf was ok in the end, back on the ferry tomorrow.

How very British Keep calm and carry on
Glad your ok and safe
Let's hope the local police take it more serious in the future if this happens again ?

image.jpg We thought we would do a follow up to being shot at. The UK police were more thorough and interested than the French police, the took measured photos and analysed the bullet bits, they advised it was a ricochet or tumbling bullet which must have missed its target from a large calibre rifle something to shoot deer or bigger, we were hot at 3.30pm so not sure what the French were shooting at!

We put in an insurance claim with Admiral who were really good, it has not affected our no claims, and we could choose who we wanted to do the repair, they agreed with SJCurtis in Bristol as they have a good reputation with roof repairs rather than our local VW repairer in Exeter who did a much cheaper quote, but not a good reputation.

SJCurtis were excellent, we had put the repair off as we wanted to make the most of the summer months, and they repaired it recently in 7 days, they kept us informed and did a good job, also helped by an enthusiastic employee who had his own T5, they even cut the bullet hole out for us to keep.

So we paid our £400 excess and have now discovered corrosion in the very front panel, typical, so off to our local VW branch for that one, perhaps we should have waited for corrosion in our roof, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Thank you for all your support, you helped us a lot.:)

Djeez , now seeing it in close up ....realy lucky that did not come in the cabin!

Don't know what to say really except I sincerely hope that's the low point of your Cali ownership out of the way and that its rainbows and sunsets from here on in.

Cheers

Yes, agree it looks much worse in that second picture. Personally I would think it was a hunting shot gone wrong.
Glad your ok
