Just trying to make sure I understand this "Reverse Polarity" that seems is rare, but could happen.

Read a few threads and think I get it but if you can clarify that would be appreciated.
I understand electrics a little, and from what I can gather its reasonably straight forward so hopefully Yes/No or Right/Wrong answers will be enough.

Camping with Electric Hook Up
1. Not all campsites use reverse polarity
2. I am safe to plug my (UK) hook up lead into the camp socket and van without damage
3a. If polarity is reversed on site the light on the control won't light
3b. Or I can test the 3 pin plug with a mains tester (have to buy)
4. If reversed , I will need to either rewire existing cable switching brown/blue or buy a ready made cable.
5. If rewiring, does it matter which end?

Plugging into a French house mains
What about the short EU to Commando mains cable that comes with the van?
6. Is this cable reversed already?
7. Can this be plugged into my (UK) hook up lead safely and then refer to 3a and/or 3b?

If I have missed anything, or completely misunderstood, please let me have more than Yes/No answers.

Thanks in advance

We will be stopping at a friends and may decide to plug in,

Reverse polarity makes no difference to anything in the cali - everyone uses the same Calis in Europe and it's fine. The theoretical risk if that if you had a switch on the socket in a british caravan for example and for some reason decided to dismantle your toaster while it was plugged in but you switched the socket off then it would still be live...

So pretty much wrong on all counts then :D
Well I guess that makes sense being a German vehicle but I am surprised after all my reading I'll admit.
