Cali-killers....

In California this kind of vehicle is the Cali-killer :

Awesome
Or this! Greyhound DIY conversion towing the pick up! Had some interesting trips around California in it back in the 80s.

If Hyundai decides to bring its Staria camper to Europe I think it would be a hit. Competitive price, and Hyundai’s build quality and reliability has surpassed VW for years. I would certainly consider it.

The interior. I see a lot of California elements. A full size table that slides along and out. Crazy innovation. Only thing I'm not crazy about is the amount of storage and cook hob which is under the plants closest to the rear.

All these other manufacturers eating VW's campervan cake. The saw the Sharavan and saw an opportunity when VW fumbled the ball.
The Staria Camper has been in production since 2022, so this may be the moment for Hyundai to make it available in Europe, where the Staria MPV is already on sale.

The Kia PV5 is coming to the UK. Not in this concept version yet but it would work for me, except for the outside kitchen.

The ambulance boss in Queensland, Australia has this as his work vehicle… not a Cali but complete with bed and full first aid kit!

They tried before with the i800 camper in about 2010, it didn't really take off then.

Well if you're looking for a new Campervan, based on current offerings, the Hyundai offer might be more appealing, obviously depending on the price point and spec.

We looked at one before buying our first cali, at the time the main advantage was the rear came with 3 belted seats. The disadvantages were fixed rear seat, drivers seat didn't swivel, drove badly, was longer than a cali and was over 2m tall.

I can see from that article that the last two haven't changed.

Well if the height exceeds 2m then thats a huge faux pas
