I'm planning to purchase a new T6 California Ocean & am somewhat overwhelmed by the list of options. I'd appreciate any feedback on the most desirable and worthwhile best value ones from which to choose. Thank you.

I've been going through the options as well for an order and looking for the same info. I'll list the options I'm looking at and what I feel is essential mainly because my last couple of cars have had these items and I've used them enough to feel the Cali will be better with them.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control - current car has this and is great for long journeys and slow moving traffic. +++
  • DSG - My wife cannot drive manual +++
  • LED Headlights - last couple of cars have had Xenon so this is an improvment. +++
  • Camera and parking sensors - makes parking so much easier +++
  • Outdoor shower connection - we have a dog plus muddy boots +++
  • Nav system plus - there is App Connect but in times where there is no signal it might help. Curious though as to if the Nav is displayed in the driver display similar to Audi's? ++
  • Towbar - will probably buy the VW bike rack, but looking at the forums the hitch will allow more storage options +++
  • High beam assist - this works pretty well on my current car +++
  • Side scan lane assist - another item that works well and I feel anything to make driving easier is a must buy +++
  • Privacy glass +++
  • Bed extension - I haven't made up my mind yet on this one, still reading the forums to gauge the response. ?
  • Storage nets - saw this the other day and I liked it +++
  • Larger fuel tank - This was an option from the dealers config and it seemed like a good one. Further research ?
  • Larger battery - another dealer config but further research ?
  • Multi-function control module for external use - Anyone know what this is ?
  • Lumbar support - will this affect the seat swivel ?
I'm sure I've left some off but hope this helps.

For me the must have are:

Parking heater (standard on Ocean)
Privacy glass
Parking sensors
Cruise control

Good to have:
Satnav/stereo carplay isnt worth the money imho but its ok however a "non internet reliant" satnav is great for travel and highly recommended.
Larger battery capacity.

Everything else for me is just a piece of interesting tech or a nice to have. LED lights for example I would love them but they don't seem good value at all.

Auto lights are a love hate thing for me too we have them on the car. They are very convenient and handy but you see more and more cars on the road with no lights on in conditions where you need them such as very heavy rain or fog but people assume they are smarter than they are.

I'd prob add Privacy glass and outdoor shower too if it's a new T6.

All of the driving assistance stuff is utter nonesense imo, lane assist to me just equates to n

This, stuff like 'Lane Assist' to me is just, learn how to drive and pay attention, all imo of course.

Yeah that is my reason to purchase the VW satnav since it isn't reliant upon a signal and I didn't want to carry around a dedicated satnav device.

The way I see it our brains already have enough failings and if technology can help us in anyway even on a 1% chance especially in the case of being on holiday and not having an accident it is priceless in my view.

I think that this is a connector (installed under one of the front seats?) that provides easy access to power and control signals. It can be used when adding after-market equipment like air suspension, when it makes it easier for the installer to integrate the new equipment with the van's electronics.

Thank you for clearing that up. I was thinking of an outside power connector like on larger motorhomes.

As it's my only drive now I have got in the habit of using it as an extra check. I would spec it again. Can't be sure but believe it saved me already when I was taking a right at a very odd motorway roundabout. I was in the correct lane and a fiat 500 decided it was a good idea to come round me from the left in the wrong lane. I saw side assist warning first and then the fiat and swerved to my right to let him complete his undertake . Might have spotted him in my mirror in time, might not. Result.
