Hello

i am collecting my new Cali on Monday and have been quoted £180 fully comp with LV I am 58 with full NCD

its not specialist insurance but at that price I am more than happy to accept the risk that I might destroy it in a kitchen accident!

Try searching the forum on ‘Insurance’ there are some recent threads with lots of feedback. Apart from your mileage and value of van, you also should be thinking about insurance of camping incidents (fire started by cooking etc.), and personal possessions cover - how much and in which circumstances. Also as it’s 12 months old, you might get a new for old option with some insurers. Quote costs are personal to yourself in terms of driving record, drivers, location, voluntary excess, storage, type of use etc etc. It’s almost a waste of time comparing premiums with other people.

For interest only, we use Comfort.

+1 here for Comfort - great service. Straight through to someone helpful on the phone.

Is that stand alone insurance ? Or part of second vehicle ? Sounds very cheap.

We’re picking our new Ocean up next week. NFU came out cheapest at £383. No tracker required. 10k mileage.

Agreed, good value £320 this year - including 2 of my children (40 + 39) as additional drivers.
Shame campervans don't get free breakdown cover even though SWB vans fit their allowable dimensions.

I went with NFU too. £340 with protected NCB ( myself and wife). LV were cheaper but NFU includes more. I notice they also do 12 months interest free which seems unusual. The first 2 years are new for old which swung it for me and also dealing with someone in person.

Useful feedback. I may give them a call when we renew.

You're not taking a risk. LV know what they are insuring - I made sure of it twice after concerns on this forum. Plenty on other threads, including here:

Same here. Very good experience with NFU. Close to LV but as you say it is better cover. £300 contents with Lv, £1000 with NFU plus the 2 year new for old made it considerably better.

Shopped around when I first purchased and took out a policy with LV only to cancel it before the cooling off period ended and go with Comfort. I have just renewed and find the service and cover excellent.

Did you call for an LV quote? The website says things that don’t accord with actual policies.
My LV policy includes £1000 personal belongings limit.
Only 12 months new for old though.

Comfort was the cheapest for me but more importantly they knew what a VW California 6.1 was and understood what cover was needed

LV for me £350 ish but that includes a rather nippy sports car.

As bizarre as it sounds, when renewing my car’s insurance - and after we just cleared out the garage to get it in - my insurer said the policy would be £30 MORE if we kept it in a garage ! The logic being that more people prang their motor when parking in the garage. Couldn’t believe it!
