I’m sorry to add to the hundreds of tyre threads and I promise I have searched for this topic. Took my California (Ocean 2016) to my local VW specialist garage. My tyres are looking worn and I suspect 2 of them are the originals. Asked for a quote for new. Told I should be getting campervan tyres and to replace the Michelin Agilis camper tyres that are on there it’d be £834 (for 4). What’s the consensus here - I don’t think I was even aware “camper tyres” were a thing. I’ve now overthought it and need someone to give me some common sense advice!

"C" rated tyres are designed for commercial vehicles doing commercial work. They can give a harsher ride as they run at higher pressures.
On the drivers door pillar you should have a sticker showing a variety of tyre sizes that can be fitted to your vehicle. As long as the tyre has a Load Rating of 103 minimum and a speed rating of H or greater it does not require the C commercial rating.
Michelin CrossClimate 235 x 55 103 H 17 , for 17" wheels is what I have fitted , as have others on the forum, designed for SUV/ Campervans.

That’s perfect - thank you. My mind was bamboozled - this makes perfect sense and I shall go check out that sticker.

As WG says, the Michelin CC2s are a good choice, and right now I believe you get £50 off a set of four in that size.

Thanks I am just trying to find 4 now for the best price. Found that review on YouTube too. They seem perfect. Just need to decide on the width now - 215 or 235 (on 17 inch wheels).

I have 18 inch alloys and went slightly larger than OEM. My 235 55 18 cost me 150 each fitted, less the £50.

Find the tyres on 'Black Circles', select mobile fitting & follow steps thru to just before payament.

It will give details of the local mobile fitter, call the local fitter direct and they will most probably beat the Black Circles price.

I went 235 with ours. If you can get a set for around £600 you’ve done well.

Thanks - I shall give this a go!

Are these gonna be correct;

Michelin CrossClimate 2
235/55 R17 Y (103)

I think it’s the fact it calls them “car tyres” that’s putting me off!!

As others have said. Looks like the online prices, fitted, range from 650 to 700, which is about right.

My Bridgestones say "car tyres" and VW fitted them from new - be fine.

Thanks - I may rename this threat “guiding an idiot in search of tyres”. Thank you - I know this is like pulling teeth. Heather
