I have recently purchased a Coast T.6.1 and hope to go to Wales in July. Brecon Beatons and then travel up towards Snowdonia. Would welcome any recommendations on good campsites. We hope to do some mountain biking, walking and swimming. Ideally would like sites near good trails.

:welcome Welcome to the forum.
I think there is a thread on recommended sites if you use the search function (magnifying glass in the top right corner). Otherwise I am sure others will be along to give their advice shortly...

Thank you for you help and advice. Much appreciated

Hi,

We stayed here last year - https://www.campingbreconbeacons.com/

It was quite nice, would go back again! The site is in a reasonably remote location with some nice walks directly from the site.

The facilities were fine, nothing special but sufficient, even with the covid controls in place at the time.

We stayed at Grawen over the May bank holiday - it is just north of Merthyr on the A470 (the road which will take you through the Brecon Beacons to Snowdonia (eventually!). http://www.walescaravanandcamping.com/

Facilities are fairly basic and there is limited EHU availability, but the site is well set-up for walkers/cyclists etc.

There are many excellent walks nearby - such as up Pen y Fan (highest mountain in South Wales) and the Four Waterfalls Walk: https://naturalresources.wales/days-out/places-to-visit/south-east-wales/gwaun-hepste/?lang=en.

There is an excellent bike route through the Beacons (the Taff Trail) and you can hire bikes from Talybont on Usk if you don’t have your own.

If you are thrill-seekers then check out the newly-opened Zipworld 15 minutes away at Tower Colliery: https://www.zipworld.co.uk/location/tower.

In Snowdonia I can recommend the Lyn Gwynant campsite in the shadow of Snowdon: http://gwynant.com/find-us/. It is right next to a lake which is available for water sports.

If you want to stay somewhere overnight on the way, Dol Llys is a quiet riverside campsite in Llanidloes: https://dolllyscaravancampsite.co.uk/

Hope you have a great time, wherever you go!

Near Snowdon I like Nantcol Waterfalls near the coast, and Beddgelert inland.

Last week we stayed in a lovely campsite called Forest Fields. It’s about 4 miles from Builth Wells. The first night was a bit wet but then improved fantastically. Facilities are first class and there is a lake if you have a canoe . If you want TV then either satellite or internet. The WiFi is all over the site and super quick. It’s a lovely quiet peaceful site, and even better if you like sheep!!!!!!

Got a weekend booked at Dolcoed near llanbedder, any pub recommendation close by
