We took our first overnight trip in our new T6 Ocean this weekend (July 2017). I was trying to figure how to stop the dogs sitting up on the bench seat and came up with this idea (I'm sure I can't be the first person to think of this).
I used the metal rear bed base as a dog gate. If you orientate it in a particular way, it is the perfect solution. I have posted a picture which I hope you can see. A simple bungee cord hooked to the rear seatbelts. That simple. It also means that you can pack luggage on the seats without the dogs slobbering all over it.
Note: The corner with the curved section is on the lower table side to avoid scratches. Make sure the rubber cover is on the top right pin to avoid scratching the table. The dog beds on the floor prevent the "gate" sliding out on the bottom. Without beds, you may need something to prevent this happening.
I hope this is of use to you.

Just to add, I haven't come up with a perfect solution for preventing the mutts walking between the front seats yet. You can see that I have some plastic mesh on the right but this is a bit messy. Any suggestions?
P.S. I already have the 9lt container between the seats but this is no problem for the dogs.

Thats a good idea ....
I have not come up to it becose i have noting againgst my dog sitting on the benchseat , and i am not unloading the rear every time i leave my dog allone in the Cali.

A have seatcovers and put a fleece on top when she sits on it (not when she's wet or dirty )

The thing i sometimes do is s put a net between the front seats to prevent her to climb in the front seats ....only when she's longtime allone in the Cali , like on the ferry or so....

A net made of bungee cord with a hook on each corner , two goes on each headrest , the others left and right on the seatbase , also got a 9l box between the seats to cover the underside

Just treat yourself to some waterproof seat covers and let your dogs sit up there.
Plus I use a seat belt attachment for my dog, which will stop him flying through the windscreen or you if you ever have a crash!

UPDATE: This solution worked very well on our 1,000 mile trip around Ireland. While driving, the gate is in place to keep the dogs on the floor. At night (we were sleeping in hotels and family homes) the gate is removed so they can sleep on the seat (which has seat covers).
2 slight improvements: The top right corner has a rubber cover on the "bolt" so it can be located on the edge of the table which prevents the bottom slipping forward.
Also, the bottom left was scratching the air vent so I put a plastic cover over the bolt down there.
This really is a perfect solution.
