Hello everyone
Well after looking around many vans and watching 100s of online videos I've jumped in and am now super excited as I pickup my new (to me) 2023 VW California Ocean tomorrow.
This is my first
camper van ,How will it be? will I dare drive it out of the dealership? will I be sleeping in it tomorrow night? Will I get the use out of it? All only questions I can answer, but so very looking forward to answering them.
Had many useful tips and links through the club threads but i will be looking at many more threads in the next few months as questions
arise, Like what do I do for a loo?

Wow Scoobus, congratulations. You must be really excited. And rightfully so. Welcome here and enjoy your Cali! You'll be hooked.

As for the loo, that's easy. A lot of campervanners go for the Thetford Porta Potti Qube 335. There are many models, but this one fit's under the package shelf (or in a slide out drawer) and in the cupboard if that's where you want to store it.

HI. I picked up my new Ocean from my local VWCV dealer on Monday. I had a 2.5 page checklist, bolstered by some useful forum checklists. I asked the dealer in advance if I could have an hour or so on my own going through the checks and they were fine with that. So I prodded and poked and tested this and that, with no pressure. Result: everything perfect with some minor “how do I do that questions ?” at the end. All paperwork was finalised ok. One thing to do at the dealer. They will talk you through connecting VW We Connect to your vehicle as Primary User and very helpful it was too. But register with We Connect before you arrive. They also promised a follow up call on Tuesday and I did have a minor query when they rang. All in all, a great handover. Sleep well tonight !

@Scoobus How did the pick up go? Any photos? :)

Enjoy your new van! We had the benefit of hiring a Cali from a dealership first, then from a hire company a year later - so by the time ours was ready we weren’t quite as nervous as we might have been! The first trips are the best - great adventures to be had.
