Hi just woke up ready to go on Eurotunnel, decided to empty toilet and casette door will not open. Tried lock / unlock numerous times, and read about a "red cord" emergency open on a previous thread.
Cannot find a red cord anywhere. Can some kind person give me more advice as to whether there is still a red cord and exactly where to find it, otherwise we'll be 3 weeks in France and Spain without a loo.
Van is a GC 680, November 22 72 reg
Thanks
Don

if you are facing the rear seat from the front of van, the red cord is hidden on right side of the seat between the seat and the side of van below the window
I cannot recall for sure but I think it’s behind the side of the backrest in bottom corner area, but could be behind seat cushion. You can easily remove the seat cushion it’s held by Velcro. But backrest is not removable like this.

Update, arriving at tunnel check in, man flagged me to stop. Cassette door hanging wide open. He pushed it shut for me.
Now seems to be working again! Why it happens no idea, but I would still like to know if there is an emergency release / red cord, and where it is.
Caused a bit of additional stress this morn, but hopefully will stay working now.

The post above yours states where the red cord is.

Our door does this from time to time as well- not sure of the reason and we had the exact thing happen where we tried and tried to open it and then off we went and driving down the road saw it flop open and immediately pulled over to close. The red cord comes in handy- as stated above you may need to pull off the seat cushion to find the first time.

Thanks to all! Not been the best of days! Weather awful for driving, tunnel late, arrived at planned aire late in the dark, paid money, got ticket with QR code, not sure if weather related, but put ticket to QR reader and barrier will not open! Parked outside but without 10A hook up etc etc as planned!
But, I have now found the red plastic cord, so if happens again I’ll know what to do. The question is, I did read the GC supplement handbook, and no mention of emergency release!
Again, thanks to all, really helps when things go not to planned.

Have had the exact problem a number of times. I've found a solution, but can not explain why it should work? If I have unlocked the van, but the sliding door has not been opened, my cassette door has occasionally remained locked. If I open the sliding door the cassette door immediately unlocks.
In the first instance when the cassette door wouldn't open I was standing with the key fob locking and unlocking the van, but with no effect. Then I discovered the sliding door had been open the whole time. Closed the sliding door. Locked and unlocked the van, cassette door then opened.
I know it sounds random, could be a software glitch in certain situations connecting the sliding door and the cassette door.
Be very interested to hear if you were to find the same?

I’ll check this out next week when we hit the road!
