After my chair broke and I couldn’t get spares of Dom till the end of July I give this ago,
22mm copper tube with a end feed cap,
1 inter screw out of a pack of 10 for £1,99p from screw fix.A bit of DIY and good to go.

Thanks for this -- great help for fixing my broken chair...

brilliant idea - going to try it! very helpful photos. did you drill a hole through both the tube and the cap or is the cap soldered on and just the tube drilled? thank you

Great ingenuity. Unfortunately, I think you may have set up a corrosion issue between the copper and the aluminium?

There is no sign of corrosion around our repair. Will keep an eye on it thanks.
This inexpensive solution worked great as we didn't have time before a trip to order parts from Germany and this costs so little especially if you already have a bit of copper pipe.
- answering my earlier question - no soldering was required as it all holds together well.
As advised bought the inter screws in Screwfix - our more local B and Q disn't have them but the cap ends are widely available..

Pappa J, thanks for your repair details and the photos. I completed my repair today. I found the same (although rear fitting not front) fitting was broken on the opposite arm of the chair. I suspect this happened when a large friend sat skew with one arm over the back. All fixed now - an economical and sturdy solution. Thanks again. Steve
